~ Relevance of Sharod Utsav ~

Sharod-Utsav or Fall Festival (from Sanskrit, Sharod = fall, Utsav = festival) holds a unique place in the hearts and lives of people from eastern India, regardless of their worldly abode. The Festival has over the years marked the release of the year's literary and musical work, staging of new productions of performing arts and drama, release of new films, art exhibitions and all that is creative and beautiful in our lives. In every city all over the world, the festivities of Sharod Utsav are associated with productions of performing arts, music, dance, drama, and literary activities showcasing the local talents. We are no exception as we proudly present on this occasion, the artistic productions of our local talents, particularly those of our children from the tri-state area. A primary focus of the festival is to present the culture of Bengal to our community and to our children.

As we celebrate the fall festival, we seek blessings from the Divine Mother, Ma Durga, and pray that She continues to guide us in all our life endeavors. Let Her guide us to make the world a better place where the good may prevail over the evil. With Her Divine grace, let peace, tranquility, knowledge and harmony triumph over conflict, unrest, ignorance, and confusion.
